RUGBY player Richard Ganyata, originally from Zimbabwe, thought he was meeting a schoolgirl for a weekend of sex at Saracens Amateur RFC in Hendon, north London.
The 33-year-old, who claimed to be 23 in the video, had told the girl to pretend she was his little sister's friend when she arrived at the rugby club where he says he has been living.
But Ganyata had actually been talking to a vigilante group called 'Internet Interceptors', who later exposed him on camera.
At Wood Green Crown Court recently, Ganyata was jailed for 18 months and will spend ten years on the sex offenders' register after being convicted of attempting to meet a girl under 16 following grooming.
Construction worker Ganyata, who arrived in the UK three years ago but is of no fixed abode, allegedly had three Facebook accounts to meet women and girls.
The group say his messages to what he thought was a 14-year-old girl stated he planned to touch her intimately and massage her with lotions.
But when he turned up for their rendezvous, he was confronted by members of the group, who called the police.
In a video of the meeting, a member of the group asks him: “You're here to meet a 14-year-girl aren't you, Richard?”
He replies: “I wasn't really sure about it.”
The anonymous vigilante then said: “You had prepared food for her today and for her to pretend that she was your 14-year-old friend.
And that she was going to stay at the rugby club with you, lay on the sofa with you and have sex with you until Monday when she had to go home to her mum.
“That's actually what you said.”
Ganyata then said: “I've done something that I was not supposed to do. It was one of those internet dating sites, just a random dating site.
“I wasn't thinking straight. I realised the other day that I should not be speaking to her.”
The woman added: “You told her yesterday that you wanted to have sex with her.”
Ganyata blamed mental health issues for his behaviour and claimed he was homeless.
A Saracens Amateur RFC spokesman said: “We are aware that a member of Saracens Amateur Rugby Club has been convicted. The child involved in the case was not connected in any way to Saracens ARC.
“As a club the safety of all our members is paramount. We co-operated fully with the authorities throughout proceedings and appropriate safeguarding measures were in place.
“The individual's membership has now been revoked and they are barred from the premises. We will be making no further comment on the matter.”
