ZIMBABWE’S Ambassador to South Africa says despite the country facing social and economic difficulties, protest will never change the government.
Ambassador Isaac Moyo says the government remains strong and in charge, adding that only elections can determine the country's future.
Moyo was speaking at a meeting on the role the Diaspora can play in the development of Zimbabwe, engagement between fellow citizens.
The Harare government is keen to engage the huge Zimbabwean Diaspora in South Africa.
Said ambassador Moyo says: "We know they are ready and want to make a contribution to the development of the country. This is just a promotion.”
He insisted that Zimbabweans living outside the country were willing to make their skills available and invest back home.
"The investment from diaspora makes large percentage of the total revenue. We are here to encourage them to invest in. This is part of broader reform program to grow the economy."
The government is working with the International Organization for Migrants to maintain the link with diaspora members.
IOM Project Manager Daniel Sam said, "The government of Zimbabwe has developed diaspora policy and within the policy there's a need to engage with the citizens."
